DOUG KLASSEN ACCEPTS THE CALL TO LEAD MENNONITE CHURCH CANADA

Mennonite Church Canada is pleased to announce that Doug Klassen has accepted our call to the position of Executive Minister. “It is an exciting time in Mennonite Church Canada. I want to help inspire a vision for what it means to be a nationwide church. I firmly believe that congregations are the foundational unit of the church and that congregational revitalization is critical,” says Doug. “There is a hunger in our culture for a witness to Jesus Christ that is rooted and grounded in love.”

EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS AND THE U.S. MIDTERM ELECTION

My heart and mind reject the American use of the term ‘evangelical’ to describe a segment of U.S. population whose behavior and voice demonstrate racism and bigotry — against those whose skin color are not white; against those outside the Christian religion; and, against those outside the imagined boundaries of a stolen Turtle Island now referred to by the colonizers as the United States of America.

So, I’m exploring the ideas of Jeremy Rifkin who challenges humanity to “enter into a new world of biosphere politics, with new forms of governance emerging to accompany our new biosphere awareness.”
