I’m touched by this hope-full message for the Church in America by Dr. Walter Brueggemann, one of my most favorite American theologians.
Sadly, most Filipino pastors and churches mimic the current form of American Christianity that Brueggemann is talking about. Filipino churches do not have to mimic American Christianity that contributed to the United States’ colonial rule of the Philippines. Let’s pray and seek the face of God on how to be the presence of Jesus Christ in the context of the realities we are facing as a people in this land.
We need an alternative way to be the Body of Jesus Christ in these anxious and conflicted Philippine realities of the 21st century. This is the meaning of genuine spiritual revival for the Church of Jesus Christ.
May God help us all!
