Return to WHY WAVES

CANADA CENTRE

TAHANAN STUDIO IS OUR OFFICE IN VANCOUVER, BC

310 5th Avenue East, Vancouver, British Columbia V5T1H4

Waves finds a loving home in Canada through Tahanan Studio, founded by our firstborn, Lele Pantoja Chan. Tahanan, which means “home” in Filipino, is a space where creativity, justice, and well-being are nurtured. Here, artists, healers, and entrepreneurs gather to collaborate and thrive in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. For us, it is more than an office — it is the Canadian heartbeat of Waves, echoing our vision of peace and inclusive development. Tahanan Studio reminds us that home can be created wherever love, justice, and imagination take root. It is a place where we learn from the new generation, who are shaping the future with courage and compassion. Through Waves at Tahanan, we are reminded that peacebuilding is truly global, beginning in every home and community.

Tahanan Studio is more than a creative space. We consider it as our heart’s home in Canada—a place where art, culture, and community converge. Founded by our first-born daughter, Lele Pantoja Chan, Tahanan has become a vibrant hub of creativity and belonging. For Waves, it is also a gift: our Canadian office, a home where our peace and development work finds expression in a new context.

A Vision Birthed by Lele

The story of Tahanan Studio begins with Lele’s vision. She dreamed of creating a creative community where artists, makers, thinkers, and neighbors could flourish together. In choosing the name Tahanan—which means “home” in Tagalog—Lele rooted her studio in the soul of our heritage.

Through her leadership, Tahanan carries the warmth of Filipino hospitality while embracing the diversity of Canadian life. It is both a sanctuary for creativity and a place where people experience belonging.

A Creative Home for Community

When we step into Tahanan Studio, we feel its spirit. It is filled with light, artistry, and the blend of Filipino roots with Canadian landscapes. Lele has shaped this space to reflect her values as an artist, entrepreneur, and community-builder.

Tahanan Studio has become:

  • A space of cultural and creative expression — telling stories of peace, justice, and reconciliation through art and design.
  • A community hub — where artists support one another, newcomers find belonging, and diverse voices are celebrated.
  • A place of mentoring and growth — where younger creatives are encouraged and guided.
  • A home of hospitality — where people experience welcome, rest, and inspiration.
